The President today announced his intention to nominate Robert McVey to be a Commissioner of
the United States Section of the International North Pacific Fisheries Commission for a term
expiring June 4, 1987. This is a reappointment.
Since 1982 Mr. McVey has been a Commissioner of the United States Section of the International
North Pacific Fisheries Commission. He also serves as director of the Alaska region for the
National Marine Fisheries Service in Juneau, Alaska. Previously he served as deputy director in
Alaska for 10 years.
Mr. McVey is married, has two children, and resides in Juneau, Alaska. He was born February 19,
1932, in Stockton, Kans.
