The President today announced his intention to appoint the following individuals to be members
of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation for terms
expiring October 26, 1990:
Carl L. Shipley is currently a senior member of the law firm of Shipley, Smoak & Akerman in
Washington, DC. He graduated from Georgetown University (B.S., 1942) and Harvard Law
School (J.D., 1948). He is married, has two children, and resides in Washington, DC. He was
born December 16, 1919, in Spokane, WA.
J. Upshur Moorhead would succeed Max N. Berry. He has most recently served as east coast
liaison for the Los Angeles Organizing Committee (1983 - 1984) and as Special Assistant to the
President for Private Sector Initiatives and Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff at the White
House (1982 - 1983). He graduated from the University of Vermont (B.A., 1975). He was born
May 1, 1952, in Washington, DC, where he now resides.
