Nomination of Marvin T.
Runyon To Be a Member of the Board of Directors of the
Tennessee Valley Authority, and Designation as Chairman

The
President today announced his intention to nominate Marvin T. Runyon to be a
member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority for the term
expiring May 18, 1996. Upon appointment he
will be designated Chairman. He would succeed Richard Merrell Freeman.
Since
1980 Mr. Runyon has been president and chief executive officer of Nissan Motor
Manufacturing Corp. U.S.A. in Smyrna, TN. Prior to this he
was vice president, body and assembly operations, at Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, MI, 1978 - 1980. From 1977
to 1979, Mr. Runyon was vice president, powertrain
and chassis operations, at Ford Motor Co. He has been vice president, body and
assembly operations, 1973 - 1977; general manager, automotive assembly
division, 1972 - 1973; assembly engineering manager, automotive assembly
division, 1970 - 1972; and regional operations manager, 1969 - 1970. Mr. Runyon
began his career at Ford Motor Co. in 1943.
Mr.
Runyon graduated from Texas A&M University (B.S., 1948). He served
in the United States Air Force, 1943 - 1945. Mr. Runyon was born September
16, 1924,
in Fort
Worth,
TX. He has four children
and resides in Nashville, TN.
