Kmiec To Be an Assistant
Attorney General
The
President today announced his intention to nominate Douglas W. Kmiec to be an Assistant Attorney General (Office of Legal
Counsel) at the Department of Justice. He would succeed Charles J. Cooper.
Since
1988 Mr. Kmiec has been Deputy Assistant Attorney
General (Office of Legal Counsel). Prior to this he was a professor of law and
director of Thomas J. White Center on Law and Government at the University of Notre Dame, 1987 - 1988. From 1985 to 1987, he was Deputy
Assistant Attorney General (Office of Legal Counsel). He served as Special
Assistant to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development, 1982 - 1983.
Mr.
Kmiec graduated from

P. Morani to be Inspector General at the Veterans
Administration. He would succeed Frank Saburo Sato.
