SERIES DESCRIPTIONS
SERIES I: CORRESPONDENCE,
1982-1984 (0.2 l.ft.; OA 9810)
This
series consists of material relating to requests from Congressmen/Governor’s
for explanation and facts on the current economic situation including taxes,
tax rates, unemployment and inflation
and administration plans to combat these economic problems; surveys to
leading economists on projected GNP and inflation rates; textile manufacturers
calling for tariffs on imports; steel industry leaders comments on steel
imports; outside requests for Feldstein as a speaker or guest; comments on the
debt crisis in developing countries; and personal correspondence on his outside
work as an editor for the Journal of
Public Economics, recommending persons for positions and awards and
thank-you notes and acknowledgement of meetings.
SERIES II: COUNCIL OF ECONOMIC
ADVISORS STAFF MEMORANDUMS TO THE CHAIRMAN, 1982-1984 (0.8 l.ft;
OA 9810-9811)
SERIES III: MEMORANDUMS TO THE
PRESIDENT, 1982-1984 (0.2 l.ft; OA 9811)
SERIES IV: MEMORANDUMS TO

SERIES V: CHRONOLOGICAL FILE,
1982-1984 (0.3 l.ft.; OA 9811)
This
series consists of material relating to economic statistics for unemployment;
inflation; price indices; savings; interest rates; Federal Reserve policies;
gross national product; federal revenues, deficits and budgets; taxes; economic
recovery; corporate and personal income; trade; and the long term outlook for
the economy. These memos are addressed
to the President, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Director of the Office of
Management and Budget and various White House staff. It appears Feldstein regularly notified the
Press Office of upcoming releases of economic information and some background
information for help in public statements on the economy. The material is arranged chronologically.
SERIES VI: SUBJECT FILE (0.7 l.ft.; OA
9811-9812)
This
series consists of material relating to economic policies and actions of the
Reagan administration. It contains a
group of material related to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and
Development (OECD). The OECD is the
organization body that administered the Marshall Plan and remains active to
this day. The Council of Economic
Advisor members were often the chief US representative to this organization’s
executive committees and working parties.
The Chairman of the CEA rotated with other countries as the Chairman of
the Economic Policy Committee of this body.
Each Reagan member of the CEA contains a series of OECD material and it
is often arranged as a separate series of material. In Feldsteins’
collection it is part of this subject file.
