STEELMAN,
DEBORAH: Files, 1985-1986
Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Director
In 1985 the White House reorganized the Office
of Political Affairs, and the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. Mitchell Daniels joined the White House as
Special Assistant to the President, with responsibility for both of these
offices. In March 1985 Debbie Steelman started work at the White House as a detailee from the Environmental Protection Agency to be the
director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs under Daniels. She was moved to the White House Staff in
April 1985 and remained until she received an appointment to the Office of
Management and Budget in February 1986.
Ms. Steelman’s
political background was working with then Governor of Missouri John Ashcroft’s
campaign. As of this date, this is the
only work product the Library has found for Ms. Steelman.
