MATERIAL AT THE REAGAN LIBRARY
PRESIDENTIAL
RECORDS
Presidential
records are arranged in three primary collections: the White House Office of
Records Management (WHORM) Alphabetical
File; the WHORM
Subject File, and the White House
Staff and Office Files. A brief
description of each of these collections follows. Please link to these
collections for a fuller description.
The Library also has a Bulk Mail
collection and the Presidential Handwriting File. Bulk Mail information is not
available online. The Presidential Handwriting File is treated as an individual
office collection and finding aids can be found within the White House Staff
and Office Files.
The Library also provides a complete description of all our

Library.
White House
Office of Records Management (WHORM) Alphabetical File,
1981-1989, 2,387 l.ft. This collection is commonly referred to as the
“Alpha” File at the Reagan Library. It
consists of non-policy or non-action level correspondence sent to the White
House and/or the President.
White
House Office of Records Management (WHORM) Subject File,
1981-1989, 2,488 l.ft. This collection consists of action or policy
material organized into casefiles and given a subject
heading by the Office of Records Management.
White House
Staff and Office Files, 1981-1989, 8,595 l.ft. This
collection consists of individual folders from White House
offices and specific staff members who worked for the Reagan
Administration. This includes the staff of the National Security Council and
its offices.

organized by a FOIA

NON-PRESIDENTIAL
RECORDS
Non-White House textual records consist
of personal paper collections, California Gubernatorial Papers of Ronald
Reagan, and a limited amount of federal records.
Reagan,
Ronald: Governor's Papers, 1967-1975, 1,060 l.ft. This
collection consists of individual folders from offices and specific staff
members who worked during Ronald Reagan’s two terms as governor of
Personal
Paper Collections, 1900-2005, 1,595 l.ft. These collections consist of papers donated to
the Library by individuals with some connection to Ronald and Nancy Reagan, or
Ronald Reagan’s various careers. Included in this material are the 1976 and 1980 Reagan political
campaigns; personal records both pre and post-presidential for Ronald Reagan;
Nancy Reagan Papers; and 1980 Transition Material.
Federal
Records, 1980-1989, 500 l.ft. These collections consist of the 1981 &
1985 Inaugural Records, and various commissions, task forces, and boards
conducted during the Reagan administration.
